Even people who haven’t lived in the Columbia, South Carolina area very long recognize this imposing figure. Whenever I visit the River Walk, I can’t help but spend time studying the great Gervais Street Bridge. I always marvel at the construction and sheer size of the structure, thinking back to how impressive it was to do work like this at the time it was built. As an architectural photographer, I’m drawn to the structure by its lines, its grace, its size. Really an amazing structure.
